Hello dear Shut Up & Yogis! We’re close to the end of what has been a tumultuous year on so many levels. That’s putting it lightly, I know, and we still have two months left to go!
It makes sense, then, that the cards for the month of November are Temperance and the Queen of Pentacles. Let’s break down what these cards mean:
In the Temperance card, a figure holds two cups, one in each hand, water pouring effortlessly from one into the other. Temperance reminds us that in order to attain peace, we must have balance in our lives. Slow down this month, and tune into what you need. Rest and recharge your batteries.
If Temperance urges us to strike a balance, the Queen of Pentacles asks us to be compassionate with ourselves and others and give attention to our bodies and the earth. Embody her slow and steady connection with yourself and the ground beneath you.
When we focus on balancing and centering ourselves, we develop more awareness of our surroundings: a true balance between emotional and earthly fulfillment. Finding equilibrium in life is so important right now but it does require discipline.
Now that we have this month’s overarching theme out of the way, let’s get down to your individual signs, shall we?
Scorpio: Page of Pentacles
Time to be a student again. The Page of Pentacles asks us to put away our ego (I know, it’s so insistent!) and allow yourself to absorb teachings and lessons from everything around you. Tuck away what you think you know, and simply observe. Listen and learn from others. Be a sponge. This perspective will help influence your work and life much more than you may realize.
Sagittarius: Four of Swords, reversed
You may need to take a step back in order to rejuvenate your spirit this month, and that’s okay. You’re tired and quite possibly burnt out. Notice your energy levels and make rest a priority this month. Slow down so that you can come back to center.
Capricorn: The Fool
The Fool asks us to let go of structure and embrace a more carefree attitude – while still showing up to life obligations like work and family. Is there room to roam this month? Are there any pockets of time when you can invite more freedom or play into your life? Trust your instincts. Ask yourself: How can I infuse every day with more enjoyment and wonder?
Aquarius: Knight of Cups
Last month was a whirlwind. Did you feel it? If you’ve been more impatient lately, take that as a sign to be gentle with yourself—in action and in thought. This month, you may want to slow down a bit in order to restore your energy and emotional bandwidth. After all, you’re going to need that energy for the holiday season that’s right around the corner. Take stock of the hurdles you’ve overcome and practice gratitude for all that you’ve accomplished.
Pisces: Page of Swords
The Page of Swords symbolizes courageous thought and new realizations. You may have had some “aha” moments recently. Use them as a jumping-off point for new creative projects! Channel these ideas into artwork, music, writing, whatever feels right. Use your voice in fruitful ways.
Aries: Two of Pentacles
In the Two of Pentacles, a figure holds two coins in their hands, almost as if they’re juggling. You’re going to have your hands full this month, which is all the more reason to focus on staying grounded and steady. Take time each day to nourish your body and soul – it could be a short meditation or a wholesome meal. Whatever it is, don’t skip it.
Taurus: The Hanged One
The Hanged One portrays a figure hanging upside down with a completely different outlook on the world. They are not uncomfortable or irritated by being upside down; rather, they are mesmerized by this new viewpoint. This card asks you to flip your perspective in order to gain clarity. Try something new and different. Don’t be afraid to shake things up.
Gemini: The Lovers
Love is in the air! So let yourself fall into it. By the way, this doesn’t mean falling in love with another person. It could mean with yourself, your work, a new friend, nature. Open your heart to everything around you and see what is possible.
Cancer: Three of Swords
This month might be more tearful than you want it to be, but your heartache is here to teach you something. While it can hurt like hell, just remember that on the other side you will have gained understanding about yourself, those around you, and the world. Keep that in mind as you traverse these hard emotions.
Leo: Four of Pentacles
Be mindful of all the things you want to control right now. The world is chaotic and unpredictable. It might be time to relinquish some of that control and see how that frees your spirit to experience something new and wondrous. You could be flirting with burnout if you don’t step back and let things unfold naturally.
Virgo: Knight of Pentacles
Slow and steady wins the race. Although, what race are you really trying to “win”? Where are you going? Take time to think about that. If you were to look back on your life 30 years from now, what parts resonate with how you want to live, who you truly are, and what you want to achieve on this earthly plane? It could be time to reevaluate. Stop trying to “win” and make time to live. There’s always time to pivot and choose another path.
Libra: The Magician, reversed
You have the tools you need to succeed, but are you using them? If you’re unable to concentrate or make decisions, try focusing on one task at a time. This usually involves slowing down (hint hint). Consider what might be behind your distraction lately. Use this month’s theme to your advantage: How can you recenter or reprioritize to restore some harmony? You have what you need; it’s just a matter of shifting elements around to allow them to serve you in their highest good.
